I’d like to introduce Brandi Conover. She’s the Marketing Director for the Supportive Services for Veteran Families, a VA funded grant that is designed to prevent homelessness among Veterans and/or rapidly re-house homeless Veterans. This is the grant that I managed after retiring from the Navy. The SSVF grant is a phenomenal program, but it has limitations. There are specific rules for what the grant money can be used to purchase and what they cannot purchase. Brandi has been charged to raise separate funds that will be managed by the Homeless Alliance and the OKC Homeless Task Force that will shore up the programs weaknesses and allow the Case Workers to use the money raised to buy things like sheets, laundry detergent, pay rent beyond the grant’s scope, emergency hotel accommodations, and more. I would consider it a personal favor if you let the Navy League members know about the OKC Homeless Task Force’s mission and donate individually or as a group to help those who served this great Nation. Brandi is available to speak at your monthly meetings or provide you with more information. The good news is that 100% of the money donated / raised will go directly to homeless Veterans. Since the money is overseen by the Homeless Alliance and the OKC Homeless Task Force, contributions / donations are tax free.
